UNICEF is looking for institutional or individual consultant for the consultancy in Child Protection area.
The purpose of the consultancy is to enable UNICEF to support the HLU to institutionalize child justice and gender mainstreaming capacity for strengthened access to justice and protection of children in contact with the law, women, girl and boy survivors of gender-based violence.
The assignment aims at the following concrete objectives:
Strengthened quality of the HLU child justice course for undergraduate law students, through (1) improved syllabus/curriculum and course materials, and (2) enhanced capacity for selected lecturers, especially on case-method teaching, using real-world cases that pose thought-provoking problems/dilemma for students to resolve;
Concrete recommendations for stronger mainstreaming of gender in the HLU core curricula to equip future law practitioners with essential knowledge and skills to respond to the needs of women, girls and boys, including stronger protection of GBV survivors during judicial processes.
Description of the assignment, deliverables and timeframe
Task 1: Conduct a training for selected lecturers of the HLU and other selected law training
institutes on case-method teaching, which uses real-world child justice and GBV
situations/cases that pose thought-provoking problem(s) or dilemma(s) for students to
resolve (5 days home-based, 3 days in-country)
Task 2: Support the HLU to review and improve the quality of the child justice course,
including facilitating a review workshop with key lecturers and students of the HLU, providing guidance and quality assurance to the HLU team for improved the child justice
course syllabus/curriculum and teaching materials (7 modules) (5 days home-based, 1 day
Task 3: Provide technical support to the HLU team to review the mainstreaming of gender in
the HLU core law subjects, and make concrete recommendations for stronger
mainstreaming of gender across the core law subjects to equip future law practitioners with
essential knowledge and skills for better response to special needs of women, girls and boys,
including strengthened protection of GBV survivors during judicial processes (14 days homebased)
