This Statement of Work (SOW) describes the basic and general technical and planning factors necessary in order to provide a geophysical seabed survey at the Italian Air force (ITA AF) facilities at the Capo Frasca firing range.
The requirement is presented as a response to the request of the Italian authorities in light of the exercises that have been performed in the past, where the area surrounding the military sea boundaries have been impacted. These surveys are essential to properly identify the conditions of all visible and significant debris deposited on the seabed.
1.1Site location and current usage
The site is located at Capo Frasca firing range in Sardinia, Italy. The study area is located approximately 7 Km from the coastline and the total surface is approximately 40 hectares

2. SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work details the requirements related to the Geophysical seabed survey, which shall achieve compliance with the existing environmental legislation efficiently and cost effectively.

The survey shall include:
2.1 Acquire and interpret high quality seabed data, including shallow geology, bathymetry, seabed sediment distribution and detection of seabed features and debris larger than 50 cm long.
2.2 Detect possible occurrence of benthic habitats and species of known conservation importance.
2.3 Increase the geological understanding of the shallow stratigraphy and sediment properties in the areas, which are located the debris.
2.4 The Contractor shall create a Geo-referenced database, which shall be incorporated into the ITA's Geographic Information System (GIS).
2.5 The Island is surrounded by large and lush "posidonia oceanica" meadows, which grow on both rocky and soft bottom sediments. The Contractor shall be especially cautious when executing the surveys to prevent additional damage to this protected species.
2.6 The Contractor shall apply the applicable laws and regulations governing the services required in this SOW.
2.7 The Contractor shall obtain all necessary permits, licenses, and other approvals from military or civilian authorities needed for the implementation of this SOW.
2.8 The Contractor shall be responsible for providing to its technicians their own transportation, equipment, utilities, medical support, and security under this contract.
2.9 Any equipment used for the implementation of this SOW shall be certified to conform to applicable standards.
