Objective and Purpose of the Assignment

ADB Ventures is the venture capital arm of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) that invests in early-stage

technology companies solving big problems in emerging Asia and the Pacific. ADB Ventures Investment Fund

1 is capitalized at $60 million and has a strong focus on addressing climate change and empowering

women. The fund will invest for commercial returns in cleantech, fintech, agricultural technology, and

health technology solutions. Fund 1 is augmented by the ADB Ventures technical assistance that leverages

ADB's expansive operational networks, relationships, and strategic partners to help portfolio companies

scale and to identify additional investment opportunities. ADB Ventures will co-invest with the private

sector including family offices, angel investor syndicates, and venture funds. ADB's vision is for ADB

Ventures to crowd in more than $1 billion of venture risk capital towards achieving the sustainable

development goals in emerging Asia and the Pacific.

ADB Ventures is looking for a highly motivated and talented individual. ADB Ventures offers a unique

entry point into the venture capital and impact investment industry.


Scope of Work

As an important member of the ADB Ventures team, the Associate will assist the investor relations and

portfolio Management functions, including but not limited to (i) developing and preparing annual and

quarterly commercial reporting (ii) monitoring and analyzing financial and impact performance (iii)

supporting corporate governance based on legal documents and (iv) fund administration including drawdown

schedules, disbursements, supporting finance and audit processes (v) supporting investor relations and

client-facing activities. The Associate will be responsible for supporting the ADB Ventures Portfolio,

including working with various internal ADB teams to ensure timely data collection, risks and issues

management, coordination of sensitive information. The Associate will also work closely with the

Investment and Operations Support teams.

The position will be based in Manila, Philippines.

The Associate will report to the ADB Ventures Investor Relations and Portfolio Manager, and the

Principal Investment Specialist of the Business Development Unit, PSOD.


Detailed Tasks and/or Expected Output

The Associate will be responsible for the following outputs:


1. Fund Administration: including monthly, quarterly and annual drawdown schedules, disbursements,

finance and audit processes

2. Portfolio Management support: including (i) setting up and supporting financial and impact targets,

(ii) monitoring and analyzing financial and impact performance monthly, quarterly and annually, (iii)

supporting quarterly progress updates on the Portfolio allocation (iv) supporting governance processes

based on legal documentation and requirements

3. Reporting: supporting the development and preparation of annual and quarterly Investor Reporting

4. Investor Relations support: including support to set up and run investor meetings, support for

investor enquiries and other client facing activities

5. Internal ADB processes related to Portfolio Management: including portfolio budget review and

reporting, process set up relating to ADB Ventures Portfolio Management with internal ADB departments

such as CTL, Cofinancing, Treasury, Legal and Audit


Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education

• Major in Finance/Business, Accounting, Economics or other relevant subject from a reputable university

in the Philippines,

• MBA and/or CFA preferred but not required.


Professional experience

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in an investment firm, impact investment consultancy or financial

services firm

• Experience working for international or development organizations

• Experience working directly in/or with ADB's private sector operations preferred

• Transaction-focused experience in Portfolio Management including (i) developing and preparing annual

and quarterly commercial reporting (ii) monitoring and analyzing financial and impact performance (iii)

supporting corporate governance based on legal documents and (iv) fund administration including drawdown

schedules, disbursements, supporting finance and audit processes (v) engaging in client-facing roles

• Demonstrable process and project management skills, including setting up portfolio management in

complex environments

• Experience in developing investment style reports and supporting C-suite level meetings

• Experience with C-suite and senior level investment professionals


Required skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong Power Point, Excel and Word skills

• Team player with strong interpersonal skills, including experience working with C-suite and senior

level investment professionals.
